Vocabulary Exercise

1.    Trump
l   [N.] a card that belongs to the group of cards that has been chosen to have the highest value in a particular game:          
I played a trump.

l   [V.] to beat someone or something by doing or producing something better:
Their $60 million bid for the company was trumped at the last moment by an offer for almost twice as much from their main competitor.


2.    Tensions

pains in the abdominal region


4.    Increase
l   [V.] to become or to make something greater in amount, number, value, etc.
increase (from A) (to B) :
The population has increased from 1.2 million to 1.8 million.
l   [adj.]  increased demand


5.    Official
l   [adj.] relating to a position of responsibility:
He visited China in his official capacity as America's trade representative.
l   [adj.] agreed to or arranged by people in positions of authority:
There is to be an official inquiry into the incident.
l   [adj.] If a piece of information is official, it has been announced publicly with authority:
Their engagement is now official.

l   [N.]  a person who has a position of responsibility in an organization:
        The customs official beckoned the woman to his counter.
